Shanghai defeats Liaoning to enter final

(Beijing, April 19) In the first men's semi of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2008 China Club Volleyball Tournament held at the Capital Indoor Stadium this evening, No. 2 seed Shanghai gained a 3-1 victory over third seed Liaoning. The score was 16-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-16.

In the preliminary round, Shanghai also prevailed 3-1 on the meet between them.

Shanghai's starter Li Chunhui pulled out of the game due to injury early in the first set and Liaoning seized the opportunity to gain a double-figure lead 18-8 soon before winning 25-16.

In the second set, Shanghai reached the first technical timeout at 8-5 and extended the advantage to 16-11 at the second timeout. Liaoning fell 25-18.

Still down three at the second technical timeout in the third set, Liaoning called off setter Kuang Qi and fielded Li Yu searching for a change. But Shanghai still controlled the pace, winning 25-18.

After leading 16-8 at the second technical timeout, Shanghai never left chance to its opponent again, cruising to the final on 25-16.
